What if growing your business wasn’t a constant struggle? In this episode, I share a surprising pivot in my journey—one I never saw coming. After years of focusing on coaching and building my academy, an unexpected door opened, leading me into an entirely new space. I wasn’t looking for it, but I couldn’t ignore it. Could you be missing your own open door because you’re too focused on what you think your business should be? Tune in to hear how I discovered my own blue ocean of opportunity and why it might be time for you to shift your focus too.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your business was just easy? What if you didn't have to struggle so much to get clients? What if things weren’t always in flux, leaving you uncertain about when your next client was coming or what you were supposed to do? Imagine not having to spend countless hours, weeks, and months just waiting for things to click. What would life be like?
I have wondered that too. Every day that I wake up struggling with a particular side of my business, I find myself questioning what will truly pan out. Today, I want to share with you that I found a blue ocean of opportunity. If you've ever heard that expression, you know it means discovering an open space in the market, an untapped potential. This opportunity came to me in a way I never actively sought out, but it was something I had to explore.
This episode is about identifying open doors and walking through them rather than continuing to bang on closed ones. If you want to hear about that journey, stick around.
Hi, my name is Ina Coveney. I am a marketing strategist, business coach, and podcaster. This is the Superhumans Podcast, where I interview the most successful people I know so that you, too, can become a superhuman. Today, we are diving into how to find those open doors, how to recognize them, and how to stop banging on the closed ones—because sometimes that’s exactly what our businesses feel like, don’t they?
There’s something I haven’t really shared openly except in my private communities and with my friends. Some people are still a little surprised that this is happening, but there is a pivot happening in my business. Everyone knows me as the queen of small audiences, and I still am. I still have a very small audience, yet I’ve been able to make it work. I’ve been able to make six figures a year in my business just through coaching.
Last year, I was entirely focused on creating an academy that I could sell evergreen, something I could put ads behind. I poured so much time and love into it. I created the Superhuman Academy, and if you go to realsuperhumans.com/academy, you’ll find a list of all the courses I’ve ever created. They’re all there for sale. You can learn everything I know about copywriting—the same skills I used to write my TEDx talk, which now has over 120,000 views on YouTube. These copywriting skills have helped me attract more clients and promote my programs. I have a course specifically for copywriting in the academy. I’ve also shared my DM strategy—how I connect with people to make sales, even with a small audience. Because success is all about engagement and relationships. All of this is inside the academy.
In 2024, I poured my heart and soul into completing this academy and making it ready for sale. But then something strange happened. While I was on this journey, a door opened wide, and I noticed it. It was a weird door, not one I ever thought of knocking on, but there it was, wide open. And if there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I walk through open doors. Saying no to an open door is simply not in my nature—I cannot close opportunities on myself when I don’t know what’s behind them.
This was a door I never expected. But when I walked through it, I discovered an immense need for what I offer. Suddenly, my business went from hard to easy. Now, I’m not saying I’m making a million dollars yet, and I’m not saying I have a hundred thousand followers overnight. But what I am saying is that I wanted to share this experience with you, just in case you’re ignoring an opportunity that’s standing right in front of you.
A few years ago, I met a wonderful man named Scott Joseph. He comes from the dealership world—the car industry. His entire network is mostly automotive professionals. We met because I spoke at a podcasting conference. He loved what I had to say, we stayed in touch, and he eventually invited me to speak to his mastermind as an expert. Then he invited me to be on his podcast. During that interview, I mentioned that I would love to interview him for mine. After all, he is a superhuman! I told him that I was only doing in-person interviews at the time, so if he was ever in Boston, he should stop by my studio and we’d record something.
He countered with something unexpected. He said, "I’m hosting an event a few months from now in Louisville, Kentucky. Why don’t you stop by, enjoy the event, meet a whole bunch of new people, and then we can do the interview there in person?" I thought that was really nice of him, and I said, "Sure, why not?"
Now, I have to tell you, leaving my family for something like this is never easy. My hardworking husband already juggles a full-time job while taking care of our kids. Leaving him to handle everything—breakfast, lunches, dinners—always weighs on me. So for me to accept an invitation that required me to travel, it had to be really important. I put all my eggs in this basket: I was going to interview Scott Joseph, enjoy Louisville, and visit an old friend.
When I arrived, Scott had to cancel our interview. His voice was going, and he needed to save his energy for hosting a three-day event. I completely understood, but now I was wondering, "What am I doing here?" I considered leaving after just one day. But then I decided to surrender to the moment and trust that the universe would reveal the reason I was there.
I started helping people. I answered questions about social media, simply sharing my knowledge. The vibe in the room was incredible—everyone genuinely wanted to help each other succeed. Scott had created an amazing community. So I just jumped in and contributed wherever I could.
That’s when I caught the attention of a car dealership owner who needed help with social media. After answering his questions, he became my very first automotive industry client. It was that simple. I had no idea how easy it could be to just help someone, have them realize they needed my expertise, and decide they wanted to work with me. And to my surprise, it had nothing to do with the coaching industry—it was the automotive world.
I had no idea what this meant, but I decided to walk through the open door. And so, I want to ask you: Have you noticed people who need you? People who tell you that you are amazing? People who say they absolutely need your expertise and appreciate you so much, but you’ve been reluctant to help them because they aren’t your "ideal client"? Meanwhile, the people you have been calling your ideal clients seem to be shutting doors in your face. Have you been fighting an uphill battle while an entirely different audience is knocking on your door?
I am not saying you should completely pivot your business. But ask yourself: Is there an opportunity you’ve been leaving on the table? Is there a way you could help those people? And most importantly, does it sound fun to you? If so, maybe it’s time to walk through that open door.
For me, I decided to jump all in. From this point forward, I am the AutoSocial Gal. I secured the TikTok and Instagram handles, completely changed my LinkedIn profile, and declared myself open for business. I built my website in one day. The next day, I got a text from someone in the automotive industry with 250,000 followers wanting to talk. I verified their identity, and we connected. We created a partnership where I help manage micro-influencers and sell social media training to dealerships.
I started an agency. If you know me from the coaching world, don’t worry—The Superhumans Podcast and the Superhuman Academy still exist. But now, I have a new division in my company called AutoSocial, and I am having the time of my life.
Next week, I will interview Scott Joseph himself. He came to my Wakefield studio, and we had a fantastic conversation. This will be the final episode of Season Six of the Superhumans Podcast. I’ll be taking a short break, but you can follow me on my new Instagram and TikTok @AutoSocialGal to see what’s next.
Thank you for being a listener of the Superhumans Podcast. I can’t wait for what’s next in my journey, and I can’t wait to help you with yours. See you soon!
